St. Patrick’s Day Social
St. Patrick’s Day 2022 It was an afternoon to eat, drink and be Irish. More than 75 lads and lassies gathered at the lovely home of Christine and Michael Pohlen to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. An afternoon of song, fine fellowship and green beer accompanied a tasty meal of corned beef and cabbage, carrots and red potatoes. After a two-year hiatus of not celebrating St. Patrick’s Day together it was delightful to mingle with old acquaintances and new friends. The Women’s Guild would like to thank Christine and Michael for their generous hospitality in hosting in this event. And a special shout out to Christine for the photos.

Advent 2021
“ Be Vigilant- Christ will come again!” I’m taking the liberty to extract from the introduction by Most Reverend Thomas J. Gumbleton in the book, Biblical Meditations for Advent and the Christmas Season, by Carroll Stuhlmueller, C.P., to share a few of his points on the Advent Season. This first volume of a 5 part set of books was published in 1980 and still speaks to us today. In his introduction, Bishop Gumbleton says: “Many are turning to Sacred Scriptures each day for their daily prayer and finding it more and more a way of integrating their very active lives with at least the beginnings of genuine contemplation.” “You might…

A JUBILEE YEAR
A Jubilee Year was declared by Archbishop José H. Gomez to mark the 250th Anniversary of Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, which was founded by the great Franciscan missionary, St. Junipero Serra, in 1771. The mission is the first church in what is now the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. And as Pope Francis has noted, the Jubilee Year recognizes not only the Church’s beginnings in Los Angeles, but also the Christian beginnings in Los Angeles, but also the Christian beginnings of America and the influence of Christian values in the formation of our national identity. For more information on the Jubilee visit the website: https://forwardinmission.com/ Jubilee Prayer Feast of the Nativity…
